The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) Saints volleyball team traveled to north Texas last week to play Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas College in Tyler and Wiley College in Marshall and won two out of the three matches to improve its record to 12-10 overall and 7-4 in the Red River Athletic Conference.  
 
The team as a whole is ranked No. 2 in Division I in Hitting Percentage (0.451).
 

On Friday, the Saints met up with Jarvis for the second time this season and beat the Bulldogs in three straight sets, 25-11, 25-14 and 25-16. Leading the team in digs were Desirea Aguilar with four. Aguilar also had 30 assists and two aces. Sarah Lindsay logged three aces, while Liza Rodriguez finished with 12 kills. Melanie Valenciana and Kelsey Johnson each had seven kills, and Lauren Eveler and Jennifer Herrera had one block each.

 

Saturday morning had the Saints face Texas College in Tyler. Once again, the Saints beat the Lady Steers in three straight sets, 25-13, 25-15 and 25-12. Lindsay, Norma Fraga, Melissa Hurtado and Johnson each had three digs. Elyse Escobar finished with 19 assists and Aguilar had 17. Fraga had three aces and Hurtado had two. Rodriguez ended up with eight kills.

 

On the last game of the trip, the Saints lost to Wiley College in Marshall in three sets, 15-25, 14-25 and 22-25. Rodriguez had eight kills, Bush had seven and Valenciana, five. Both Bush and Valenciana had three blocks, while Lindsay had seven digs, Escobar, six, Danielle Otero, five and Fraga and Johnson had four. Escobar finished with 19 assists, Lindsay had three aces and Johnson, Escobar, Rodriguez and Bush ended with one ace each.

Aces: Sarah Lindsay with 21

Kills: Liza Rodriguez with 137

Assists: Elyse Escobar with 314 - ranks no. 7 in the conference

Digs: Lindsay with 254 - also ranked no. 2 in the conference

Blocks: Rodriguez with 27
