The Saints men's soccer team improved its record this past weekend to 7-4 overall and 4-1 in the Red River Athletic when they beat Texas College from Tyler at home.
OLLU's Ramon Rodriguez scored quickly with just a little more than one minute into the first half. His kick into the post was from an assist by freshman Yared Temesgen.
During the 85th minute of the game, Junior Tomas Flores scored the Saints second and final goal on a penalty kick to give the Saints the 2-0 win.
Flores finished with three shots, one on goal. Rodriguez had four shots and two on goal. The Saints outshot the Steers 10 to seven, and goal keeper Marco Herrera finished with two saves.
Team leaders are as follows: Ramon Rodriguez with six goals; Ramiro Ramirez with 17 shots; and Marco Herrera with 32 saves.
The team as a whole is ranked no. 18 in Division I in shutouts per game (0.360) and no. 20 in total shutouts (4.000). In the conference, the Saints are ranked no. 2 in shutouts and no. 4 in goals per game with a total of 24.
