
GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS (Oct. 25, 2011) -- Our Lady of the Lake University's men's golf team shot an 881 to win the Northwood Fall Shootout at the Tangle Ridge Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday.
The first round of the tournament on Monday was delayed due to heavy fog as the slate of participants began at noon instead of the scheduled 8 a.m. start. The group was not able to finish the abbreviated 30 holes until Tuesday morning, and the final round followed.
The Saints shot a first round 296, a second round 292 and a final round 293 to beat out the other 13 teams.
Sophomore Aaron Flores shot a 2-under 70 first round, a 5-under 67 second round and a final 2-over 74 to finish in third place.Freshman Dustin Blair's first round was a 1-under 71, second round 1-over 73 and final round 4-over 76, and he finished in a tie for 9th place. John Mulholland tied for 29th place with a three-round 228, while Nick Chacon ended with a 229 and Jack Shores, 231.
Texas Wesleyan University finished in second place with a 883. They were followed by Rogers State University (885), Southwestern College (887), University of Houston at Victoria (887), Oklahoma Baptist University (889), Bethany College (899), Lubbock Christian University (899), Northwood (904), Faulkner University (907), UT-Brownsville (919), Northwood-2 (921), University of St. Thomas (935) and the University of Texas at Dallas (964).
Oklahoma Baptists's Chase Lindsey won the Individual medalist award with a a three-round 204.
The Saints, who are ranked 12th in the nation, will be on the road this weekend to participate in their last fall tournament. They will compete in the Oklahoma Christian University Fall Invitational in Oklahoma City.
