SAN ANTONIO (Jan. 23, 2012) -- Treshenia Solomon and Nikkia Davis posted double-doubles and led the Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's basketball team to a 112-71 win over the University of the Southwest on Saturday afternoon in Mabee Gymnasium.

The Saints improve to 10-2 in the Red River Athletic Conference and 15-3 overall, while Southwest drops to 1-11 in conference and 6-12 overall. The Lady Saints are one game behind league-leader Langston University (11-1/17-1) and ½ a game behind second-place LSU-Shreveport (10-1/12-5).

Solomon (pictured at right)  took the first possession of the game after tipoff and scored on a second-chance attempt. Jasmine Fuller launched a Saints' 23-6 run to lead 27-8 with more than 13 minutes remaining in the half. Even though the game was fast-paced, with both teams running up and down the court, the Saints were overpowering the Mustangs at all levels.  The Saints took their biggest lead of the half after Chelsea Kellogg sank a 3-pointer to go up 54-17 with three minutes left in the half. The Mustangs went on a 12-3 run to end the half trailing the Saints 57-29. The Saints narrowly missed their half-time scoring record of 61 that was set in 2009 against the Southwest Adventist University.

The Saints limited the Mustangs to just 19 percent field-goal shooting, while succeeding on 18-of-48 from the field.

The second half was no different for the Saints, as the women led by as much as 53 points.

Southwest committed 31 turnovers in the game, while OLLU gave the ball up 20 times. OLLU made 41-of-93 field goals (44 percent), 24-of-40 free throws (60 percent) and 2-of-14 from 3-point range (21 percent). Southwest made 22-of-77 from field-goal range (29 percent), 20-of-30 free throws (67 percent) and 6-of-18 from 3-point range (22 percent).

Davis was the Saints' high scorer with 18 points, and she added 11 defensive rebounds, six assists and five steals. Solomon scored 14 points and added 11 rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Alisha Crump added 14 points and four steals, while Arlene Cisneros and Kellogg each finished with 12 points.

The Mustangs' Tarah Turner finished with 14 points.

The Saints will travel to New Mexico and play Southwest again on Monday evening. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
