The Saints cross-country team competed on Nov. 6 in the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament at Northwood University in Cedar Hill, Texas.  Freshman Miriam Vazquez finished in seventh place and has qualified to compete in the NAIA National Meet on Nov. 21 in Vancouver, Wa.

As a team, OLLU placed fourth in the meet, while Northwood University came in first, University of the Southwest in second, Langston University in third, Wiley College in fifth and Paul Quinn College in sixth.

"The team did well today. I am proud of everything that the girls accomplished today and this year," said Head Coach Stephen Sherman.

Vazquez's time was 21:11. "Miriam's performance today was outstanding. To be the first person to make the national meet on the first OLLU team ever is pretty special. It is fitting too in that she has worked hard to get to this point. I could not be more proud of Miriam in the way she has represented herself, our team, and OLLU with her efforts on the course," concluded Sherman.

Vazquez's work is not done as Coach Sherman will immediately start preparing her hard for the NAIA National Meet.
