STARKVILLE, MISS. (May 17, 2012) -- The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has announced its 2012 NAIA All-Region teams. This season, 134 student-athletes representing 46 institutions were chosen for either a first or second team in each of the Association's five regions.
Our Lady of the Lake University's Kaitlyn Bourg, Maegan Ramirez and Brittany Stone were selected to the Second Team in the Southwest Region.
Bourg, a senior catcher from Napoleonville, La., finished the season with a team high .641 slugging percentage and a .338 batting average. She drove in 28 runs and 49 hits, while recording 37 RBIs and and a team-high 11 home runs. Bourg is pictured at right.
Ramirez, a freshman pitcher from San Antonio's O'Connor High School, finished with 15 wins and 7 losses on a 2.62 ERA. She had 91 putouts and 53 assists.Stone, also from O'Connor High School, played third base for the Saints and finished the season with a .921 fielding percentage. She had 47 putouts and 81 assists. She had the team's highest batting average with .362 and the most RBIs with 39. Stone is pictured at left.
NFCA member coaches in each of the five regions select the NFCA All-Region teams and honorees are now eligible to be selected to one of two 2012 NFCA NAIA All-American teams.
The 2012 NFCA All-American teams will be announced on Friday, May 25 and will be available on NFCA.org.
