SAN ANTONIO (June 4, 2012) -- The 2012 Capital One College Division Academic All‐America® Men's At‐Large Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One became the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA's Academic All‐America teams programs in 2011.

Santiago Padilla V is Our Lady of the Lake University's award winner. He has been selected to the Second Team. Padilla, a member of the Saints men's tennis team, just completed his undergraduate degree from OLLU and walked across the stage on May 5.

Student-athletes are nominated by the school's sports information director based on their excellence in the classroom while maintaining at least a 3.3 GPA, as well as success on the playing field.

Padilla, a native of Quito, Ecuador, majored in business management. He finished with an 3.872 GPA out of a perfect 4.0 throughout his college career.

The Academic All‐District ® teams include the student‐athletes from eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the first year of the expanded Academic All‐America® program as CoSIDA moves from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non Division I) and doubles the number of scholar‐athletes honored.

The teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division team combines NAIA, Canadian and two‐year schools. The Capital One Division II and III Academic All‐America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2011‐12 DII and DIII Academic All‐America® teams program.

Padilla had been selected to the Academic All‐District ® First Team in District 7 early in May. He then advance to the Capitol One Academic All‐America® Team.
