Jonathon Hurt - Assistant Coach - 2nd Season

Jonathon D. Hurt has returned to be the new assistant men's basketball coach after leaving for one year to coach the basketball and baseball teams at Paden High School in Paden Okla. Hurt was the graduate assistant for OLLU's inaugural men's basketbal team in 2009-2010 that finished as co-champs in the Red River Athletic Conference.

 

He received a Bachelor of Science in physical education from Wayland Baptist University (WBU), where he also played for the school's basketball team from 2007-2009. While at WBU, he was the basketball team's captain from 2008-2009, he was named to the Southern Atlantic Conference (SAC) All-Conference Team in 2008-2009, and he made SAC Academic All-Conference in 2007-2008. During the summer of 2007 and 2008, Hurt was the Summer Team Camp Coordinator.

 

Prior to attending WBU, Hurt attended East Central University in Ada, Okla. While there, he made the President's Honor Roll. Hurt also attended Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, Okla., and was the basketball team's captain from 2005-2006. He made the Bi-State All-Conference Team, and he received the Henry Migliore Athletic Award in 2005. Other honors include: Larry Stone Student Athletic Award, McDonald's All-State Basketball Team, Tulsa World All-State Basketball, Daily Oklahoman All-State Basketball, William Energy AAU Team-Player and numerous others.

 

Academically, Hurt was in the top three percent of his class at Eastern Oklahoma State College, and he made the President's Honor Roll, as well. At Mason High School in Mason, Okla., Hurt was the valedictorian of his senior class.

 

Hurt's love of sports began at an early age, when his father was the head baseball coach at East Central University. Hurt is a native of Ada, Okla.
