BENJAMIN GARCIA begins his first season at Our Lady of the Lake University. Garcia comes from Laredo College.
Before Laredo, he was at East Central High School in San Antonio. There, Garcia taught Special Education, World History and coached baseball. On the baseball team, he coached infielders and assisted with the team offense. In his two years as an assistant coach at East Central, the Hornets compiled a record of 50-20-3 of which included two post-season appearances in the Texas state playoffs and a 26-6A-district championship.
Garcia was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he graduated from Foy H. Moody High School. At Moody, he was a second-team all-district selection his senior year and helped the Trojans advance to their twelfth state tournament appearance.
After high school, Garcia attended Laredo Community College, where he played two years of college baseball before transferring to The University of Texas at San Antonio. Garcia received his degree in Multidisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Kinesiology, Education and History in the winter of 2017.
Coach Garcia also coaches summer baseball for the South Texas Sliders.
