
Stephen Sherman comes to OLLU from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas, where he served as assistant coach for cross-country for three years. A native of Dickinson, Texas, Sherman received a Bachelor of Arts in history and political science from McMurry and a Master of Science in organizational and human resources development from Abilene Christian University.
During his tenure at McMurry, Sherman was the assistant coach of five accumulative male and female USTFCC (United States Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association) Academic All-American team selections for cross-country in 2006, 2007 and 2008; 2008 NCAA DIII Men's National Track and Field Champions; 2008 NCAA DIII National Cross-Country Meet qualifier; 2006 American Southwest Conference women's cross-country team champion and individual champion; 2007, 2008 and 2009 American Southwest Conference men's and women's track and field team champions; and 38 accumulative male and female All-Conference cross country and track selections and seven male and female All-Region selections.
Sherman earned his USA Track and Field (USATF) Level I Certification in June 2005, USATF Level II Certification in Endurance Events in July 2008 and a Certification in Mediation and Conflict Resolution in June 2008. In addition to his coaching duties at McMurry, Sherman was also the Residence Hall Director for two years.
