Arthur Salazar joined the OLLU Athletic Department as soccer assistant coach in the summer of 2008. The Robert E. Lee High School graduate and San Antonio native is currently finishing his degree in kinesiology at OLLU.

Salazar has coached club soccer for eight years and hashad part-time assistant coaching positions at Trinity University, the University of the Incarnate Word and Central Catholic High School. His interest in soccer began at an early age, when his parents played the sport. He started playing competitive soccer at age 10 and continued through high school.

What he likes best about being a coachis the interaction and connection with individuals that creates a bond. Salazar played for the OLLU Saints during its inaugural season in 2007 as the team's goal keeper and captain. He enjoyed being a part of a group of young men who were eager to learn and driven to succeed. The group did extremely well and set a high standard, proving that the OLLU soccer program will be competitive for years to come.

Salazar cites continuing to finish his education with the support of family and friends as his biggest success. He is single, and has no children, and he enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching television and playing a variety of sports. His favorite sport is soccer, team is Manchester United and player is Eric Cantona.

Both Salazar and head soccer coach Shane Hurley also coach for the Classics Elite Soccer Academy youth club in San Antonio. Coach Salazar also works for the South Texas division of the United States Olympic Development Program.
