[Men's Golf] OLLU's Aaron Flores named to 2013 NAIA Men�s Golf All-American First Team

KANSAS CITY, MO. (May 20, 2013) – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2013 NAIA Men's Golf All-America teams, as selected by the NAIA-Men's Golf Coaches Association All-America Committee. A total of 45 student-athletes were honored with 15 individuals being named to each of the three teams.

Our Lady of the Lake University's Aaron Flores has been selected to the First Team. Last season, he was selected to the Third Team, and in 2011 and 2010, he made Second-Team All-American.

[Men's Basketball] Former OLLU standout Robert Martinez signs with professional sports agency

SAN ANTONIO (May 20, 2013) -- Robert Martinez, a four-year member of the Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's basketball team, has signed with the professional sports agency, Seven Bridges Group.

Martinez capped his senior season by earning First-Team All Conference and First-Team All Tournament and averaging 15 points per game. The agency announced that Martinez has a private workout scheduled with the Dallas Mavericks organization and its D league affiliate. He has also received interest from the NBL Canadian League.

SAN ANTONIO (May 20, 2013) -- Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) has received notice that Leslie Cooper and Matt Ellis have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Team, presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Nominations for the awards are submitted by members of the association. News and Sports Information Officer Patty Constantin represents OLLU in the association.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at their positions. No student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.

As "First-Team" winners, Cooper and Ellis will advance to the national ballot. Recipients of those awards will be announced at a later date.

SALEM, ORE. (May 18, 2013) – Our Lady of the Lake University's Aaron Flores has been selected to the PING First-Team NAIA All-America, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced yesterday.

PING All-America selections for the NAIA are made by the GCAA. The PING American College Golf Guide, online and interactive with Golfstat, is the official scoring program for college golf.

SALEM, ORE. (May 17,2013) -- (Individual Results | Team Results) Oklahoma City claimed its second-straight national title Friday with a win at the 62nd annual NAIA Men's Golf National Championships presented by FORE! Salem at Creekside Golf Club. The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) Saints finished in seventh place.

The Saints, who came back from a first and second round 11th place to a third-round sixth place, finished in seventh with a final score of 1,191 (301-301-285-304). OLLU also finished in seventh place in the 2012 national tournament.

The Stars, who never trailed during the event, registered a team score of 291 en route to posting a tournament-low 4-under, 1,148 (280-288-289-291). Oklahoma City, the first team to repeat as national champions since accomplishing the same feat in 2006 and 2007, now owns nine men's golf championship banners in the last 13 years, which leads all NAIA institutions.

(May 16, 2013) – Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) jumped five spots to finish in 6th place after three days of the 62nd annual NAIA Men's Golf National Championships presented by FORE! Salem. Defending national champion Oklahoma City University extended its lead to 16-strokes after three rounds. The 2013 event is being hosted at Creekside Golf Club by the Cascade Collegiate Conference and Corban University (Ore.).

The No. 7 ranked Saints finished the third round with an overall score of 285 after finishing the first and second round with 301 each day. The team is now at 887 and +23 to par. Oklahoma City finished today at 289 (857), followed by Texas Wesleyan University (873), California State - San Marcos (879), Johnson & Wales (881) and Grand View University (882). The six teams, along with Faulkner (891), University of the Cumberlands (892), Bellevue (893), Lee (896), University of St. Thomas (899), Northwood (900), British Columbia (901), Milligan (901), Southeastern (912), Wayland Baptist (914) and Northwestern (916) will advance to the final round on Friday.

Defending national champion Oklahoma City University closed the day with an eight-stroke lead. The 62nd annual event is being played out at Creekside Golf Club and is hosted by the Cascade Collegiate Conference and Corban University (Ore.).

The No. 7 ranked Saints finished the first round with an overall score of 301 and 13+. Oklahoma City finished at 280, followed by Grand View University (288), Johnson & Wales (294), Faulkner (294), Bellevue (294), British Columbia (296), Northwestern (296), Texas Wesleyan University (297), Wayland Baptist (299) and California State - San Marcos (299). (May 13, 2013) -- (Live Scoring | Sunset in Salem) -- The 2013 NAIA Men's Golf National Championships are scheduled to open action Tuesday at Creekside Golf Club in Salem, Ore., at 7 a.m. PDT (9 a.m. Central). The 62nd annual event is a 72-hole stroke play tournament that will be played over the course of four days, concluding with the final round on Friday.

The Our Lady of the Lake University Saints – making their third trip to the nationals – will tee off at 12:50 p.m. PDT (2:50 p.m. Central). The Saints, the No. 7 ranked team in the NAIA, received the No. 3 at-large bid.

WACO, TEXAS (May 9, 2013) -- The 2013 Red River Athletic Conference Softball All-Conference Team and individual award-winners as voted by the conference's coaches were announced yesterday. The top 18 players in the conference were selected to the All-Conference Team regardless of position.

Our Lady of the Lake University's Maegan Ramirez and Brittany Stone -- both sophomores -- were selected to the team. The two were also selected to last year's All-Conference Team.

KANSAS CITY, MO. (May 2, 2013) -- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released Thursday the qualifiers for the 2013 NAIA Men's Golf National Championships. The 62nd annual event will take place at Creekside Golf Club in Salem, Ore., May 14 – 17.

The 156-player field is made up of 21 automatic qualifying teams, who won their respective conference/independent/unaffiliated group tournament. In addition, six at-large team selections based on the final regular-season NAIA Men's Golf Coaches' Top 25 Poll, Corban (Ore.) (host berth) and 16 individual qualifiers were selected. Our Lady of the Lake University received the No. 3 at-large bid.

The NAIA announced earlier today the NAIA Men's Golf Coaches' Final Top 25 Poll, and the Saints remained at No. 7.

[Men's Basketball] Former UTSA's Jeremy Hines to join 2013-2014 OLLU men's basketball squad

SAN ANTONIO (May 2, 2013) -- Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) has announced that former University of Texas at San Antonio player Jeremy Hines has signed a letter of intent to play men's basketball for the Saints beginning in the 2013-2014 season.

Head Coach Russell Vanlandingham said, "Jeremy gained valuable experience at the Division I level having played at UTSA. He is a very good shooter, and that will fit our style of play. He will have the opportunity to fill some major holes after we lost three of our best shooters -- all seniors. I expect him to use his maturity and his time at the Division I level to benefit him in our situation."

[Men's Golf] OLLU men's golf takes second place in Red River Athletic Conference Championship tournament

HOUSTON, TEXAS (April 30, 2013) -- Our Lady of the Lake University men's golf team finished in second place at the Red River Athletic Conference Championship Tournament today. The Saints finished with a score of 876.

Senior Aaron Flores carded a 2-under-par 214 (70/72/72) to finish in third place. Junior John Mulholland shot an even par 216 (76/70/70) to earn a fourth place. Both Flores and Mulholland received All-Conference honors.

The tournament was hosted by the University of St. Thomas at the Cypresswood Golf Course.

HOUSTON, TEXAS (April 29, 2013) -- Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's golf team is tied for third place after two rounds in the Red River Athletic Conference Championship Tournament. The event is taking place at Cypresswood Golf Course and is being hosted by the University of St. Thomas.

Saints senior Aaron Flores is tied for first place along with St. Thomas' Sean Kennedy and Richard Le, and Northwood's Joss Gosling.
