SEGUIN, TEXAS (Oct. 5-6, 2012) -- Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's tennis participated in the Third Annual Texas Lutheran University Doc Skogman Invitational in Seguin on Friday and Saturday. The Saints won seven sets and lost 12 in singles and doubles matches.

OLLU sophomore Matt Ellis had the best showing with a win in the Men's C Flight. He beat Felix Singer, USW, 6-3/6-1 to advance to the semifinals. There he defeated Daniel Vasquez, PV, 5-3/6-4. During the championship round, Ellis overpowered Matt Banner from St. Mary's University, 6-4/6-3 and was awarded the championship.

The Doc Skogman Invitational featured 16 schools, 29 combined women's and men's teams, and more than 200 individual competitors. Matches were contested across Seguin with courts used at TLU, Seguin High School, Jim Barnes Middle School, and Max Starcke Park. A combined 39 women's and men's singles and doubles draws were contested.

SAN ANTONIO (June 25, 2012) -- Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) has announced the addition of Estanislado G. Martinez Jr. to its men's tennis team. Martinez is a graduate of Carrizo Springs High School in Carrizo Springs, Texas.

The men's team qualified for the NAIA Regional Championship Tournament this year in Oklahoma City, Okla. The team was defeated by Lewis and Clark University in the semifinals.

The Saints were ranked as high as No. 21 in the nation by the NAIA Men's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll.

[Men's Tennis] OLLU's Santiago Padilla selected to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America Men's At-Large Team

SAN ANTONIO (June 4, 2012) -- The 2012 Capital One College Division Academic All‐America® Men's At‐Large Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One became the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA's Academic All‐America teams programs in 2011.

Santiago Padilla V is Our Lady of the Lake University's award winner. He has been selected to the Second Team. Padilla, a member of the Saints men's tennis team, just completed his undergraduate degree from OLLU and walked across the stage on May 5.

Student-athletes are nominated by the school's sports information director based on their excellence in the classroom while maintaining at least a 3.3 GPA, as well as success on the playing field.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA. (April 27, 2012) -- The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's tennis team dropped five matches and won four against Lewis and Clark in the semifinals round of the NAIA Regional Conference Championship Tournament.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA. (April 26, 2012) -- The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's tennis team defeated Oklahoma Wesleyan University in the first round of the NAIA Regional Conference Championship Tournament. The Saints won all nine matches and will now advance to the semifinals of the tournament.

Head Coach Sal Castillo said, "Solid play by everyone. We weren't expecting a 9-0 score, but when you are playing for a spot to go to nationals, this score is going to impress a lot of the selection committee members."

SAN ANTONIO (April 24, 2012) -- The Our Lady of the Lake University men's tennis team departed this afternoon for Oklahoma City where they will compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Regional Conference Tournament that begins on April 26. The team is ranked No. 2 in the unaffiliated conference group of the NAIA. In addition, the Saints are No. 21 in the NAIA Men's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll.

The tournament will determine which teams will qualify for the NAIA National Tennis Championship Tournament that takes place in mid-May. A total of seven men's teams will be competing.
