LANGSTON, OKLA. (April 24, 2012) -- Jonathan Cepeda of the Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's cross-country team participated in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Track and Field Championships Meet in Langston last weekend.

"I am very proud of the team members who decided to run track this year. We ran a handful of meets throughout the spring, which culminated in the team running at the RRAC Track and Field Championships. Jonathan Cepeda represented OLLU well, and he is a better runner for having competed in track."

VANCOUVER, Wash. (Nov. 19, 2011) –Our Lady of the Lake University's David Duque made his first trip to the NAIA Men's Cross-Country National Championships this past Saturday at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.
 

Duque ran a 27:53 8K, which was good for 289th place out of 312 runners. He also finished in ninth place out of 10 runners from the Red River Athletic Conference, which is where he finished at the conference tournament a few weeks ago.

SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 18, 2011) -- Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) freshman David "Duke" Duque has qualified for the NAIA National Tournament after placing 10th at the Red River Athletic Conference Championship Tournament. He ran a time of 27:43, a school record for the 8K and a personal best time.

 

Duque becomes the first male cross-country runner from his school to attend the tourney. "I'm nervous," says Duque, "but to be the first guy to ever go to nationals. That's pretty exciting."

FORT WORTH, TEXAS (Nov. 5, 2011) – David Duque of the Our Lady of the Lake University men's cross-country team has qualified for the NAIA National Tournament after finishing in 10th place at the Red River Athletic Conference Championship Tournament. The meet, hosted by Texas Wesleyan University, took place on Friday at Gateway Park in Fort Worth, Texas.
 

Head coach Stephen Sherman said, "David ran a phenomenal race claiming the last individual qualifier spot and the last spot on the all-conference team. It was a phenomenal race for anyone, let alone a freshman."

STILLWATER, OKLA. (Oct. 3, 2011) -- The Our Lady of the Lake University Saints  had a decent day, according to Head Coach Stephen Sherman, at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater.


"I was most impressed with the way Jonathan (Cepeda) ran. He met and exceeded his potential,"  said Coach Sherman.

 

The NAIA Champions of Character program aims to instill five core values in NAIA athletes, coaches: respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership, and sportsmanship.
