FORT WORTH (April 15-16, 2013) -- The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's and women's track team participated in the 2013 Red River Athletic Conference Track Championships on April 15 and 16.

Coach Stephen Sherman said, "Overal this was a good exclamation point on the season. I am particularly proud of Erica (two school records), Laura (a personal record), and Nick (a school record). Every one of the athletes will be better off in the fall for cross country because of competing in track, and really that is one of the primary reasons we do track at OLLU. I feel confident about how we are set up for next year, and my expectations for the team will be higher than ever in 2013-2014."

SAN ANTONIO (Feb. 23, 2013) -- The Our Lady of the Lake University track team ran its first meet this weekend at Trinity University.

Head Coach Stephen Sherman said, "The team all ran in the Rogue Distance Festival last week, but Trinity was our first actual outdoor track meet. Besides increasing the number of athletes we have doing track this year we are also already experiencing more success than we have before. Erica Ramos is particularly off to a great start to the season having upended school records in the 5,000m (20:05) last week and in the 1500m (5:21) this week. Others have established records in the men's 10,000m and the women's 400m and 800m. So far over all we are ahead of my expectations. We look forward to continuing our momentum at UIW's track meet next weekend."

VANCOUVER, WASH. (Nov. 17, 2012) – Our Lady of the Lake University's (OLLU) David Duque participated in the 2012 NAIA Men's Cross-Country National Championships held last Saturday at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.

Duque, a sophomore from San Antonio Burbank, recorded the 8K in a time of 28:06 out of a slate of 309 runners. This was his second trip to nationals after finishing third in the Red River Athletic Conference Meet earlier this month.

"First of all, I mentioned before we left for the NAIA meet that I expected David to represent himself and OLLU in a way that we could all be proud of and that is in fact what he did. I cannot say that he got a result that we hoped for, but I can say it was not an issue of desire or effort on his part."

KANSAS CITY, MO. (Nov. 12, 2012) -- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the team and individual qualifiers for the 2012 NAIA Men's and Women's Cross Country National Championships. The 57th Annual Men's and 33rd Annual Women's event will take place at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver, Wash. on Nov. 17. The women's 5K run will start at 9:30 a.m. CST, followed by the men's 8K race at 10:45 a.m.

Our Lady of the Lake University's David Duque will make his second appearance at the nationals. Saints' women making their first appearance at nationals include: Laura Echeverria, Marianna Hurtado and Erica Ramos.

Head Coach Stephen Sherman said, "It cannot be said enough how proud I am of all four athletes for what they have accomplished in qualifying for nationals. They all have unique but similar experiences in terms of the various levels of sacrifice it took to get to this point. None of them were or are afraid to work hard for a goal, and I'm not sure too many people their age can make that claim. That being said, now they have to move on to a new goal of doing well at the national meet. We've been there every year since 2009 with Miriam [Vazquez] and David, so it's not good enough just to go. They need to do well for not only themselves but for OLLU, and I know they will do just that."
