SAN ANTONIO (March 28, 2013) -- Prior to the beginning of the 2012-2013 season, Athletic Director Jack Hank appointed Christopher Minner as interim head coach of the women's basketball team, and today, he announced that Minner will be the official head coach of the Saints. Hank also announced that interim assistant coach Valerie Huizar will be the official assistant coach of the Saints.

The women's basketball team, which began competing in intercollegiate athletics in 2009, ended this season as the Red River Athletic Conference Regular Season Co-Champions, along with Wiley College, after finishing with a 30-4 overall and 20-2 conference record. The Saints were the runners-up in the conference tournament and earned an automatic bid to the 2013 NAIA DI Women's Basketball Championship Tournament. The Saints fell to Rogers State University 69-79 in the first round.

KANSAS CITY, MO. (March 20, 2013) – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 2012-2013 Division I Women's Basketball All-America Teams. Players were selected by the NAIA-Women's Basketball Coaches' Association All-America Committee.

Our Lady of the Lake University's Nikkia Davis and Nashae Owens were selected to the Honorable Mention Team.

ATLANTA (March 12, 2013) -- The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced on March 12 the six 2013 RUSSELL ATHLETIC/WBCA National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Regional Coaches of the Year, all of whom are finalists for the 2013 RUSSELL ATHLETIC/WBCA NAIA National Coach of the Year Award.

Included in the list is Our Lady of the Lake University Women's Head Basketball Coach Christopher Minner, who is serving his first year as head coach for the Saints. Minner joined the Saints' coaching staff as assistant coach in 2009, when the University began intercollegiate athletics in women's basketball. He remained in that position through the summer of 2012, when he was named interim head coach for the team. He finished the season guiding the team to its best record ever of 30-4 overall and 20-2 in the Red River Athletic Conference. The Saints were co-champions of the conference's regular season and conference tournament runners-up. The team earned an automatic berth into the NAIA DI Women's Basketball Championship Tournament, where the Saints lost to Rogers State University 79-69 in the first round.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (March 18, 2013) -- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced Monday that 124 Division I women's basketball student-athletes have been named 2012-13 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

Our Lady of the Lake University junior guard Chelsea Solis earned this honor after posting a 3.7 cumulative GPA.

Solis was nominated by OLLU's sports information office based on the stipulation that a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.

The NAIA Champions of Character program aims to instill five core values in NAIA athletes, coaches: respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership, and sportsmanship. Our Lady of the Lake University shares and supports these values and strives to promote the Champions of Character program by working with students, coaches through our Champions of Character educational program.
