SAN ANTONIO (Aug. 24, 2010) -- The OLLU Saints men's tennis team earned high academic marks last school year with a cumulative GPA of 2.978. Tennis, which is not sponsored by the Red River Athletic Conferece (RRAC), participates as an unaffiliated member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. OLLU's other athletic teams, including basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball and volleyball, earned the 2009-2010 RRAC GPA Award for having the highest GPA of any Red River member institutions.

Moreno to receive academic and athletic scholarship

 

SAN ANTONIO (May 19, 2010) - Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) announced that Joell Moreno has signed a letter of intent to play tennis at the University beginning in the fall of 2010.
 
Moreno is a senior at Highlands High School in the San Antonio Independent School District. He played competitive tennis at Highlands and was named to the 27-5A All-District Team this year.

The men's tennis team won 9-0 against Kansas Christian College in the quarterfinals match of the Unaffiliated NAIA Regional Tournament in Oklahoma City last weekend. Oklahoma Christian University beat the Saints 9-0, and the Saints lost by default to John Brown University.

The men's tennis team lost 3-6 against Schreiner University on April 18 in Kerrville, Texas. The team is now 4-11 for the season.

The OLLU Varsity Tennis Team will host the 2010 Adidas Summer Tennis Camp. Members will teach campers the fun and excitement of a lifetime sport. The camp will include a full-day with drop-off from 8-8:30 a.m. and pick-up from 5-5:30 p.m. The camp is directed by OLLU Head Tennis Coach Sal Castillo, a two-time world doubles champion.
 
June camps are for beginner/Intermediate campers and August is for high performance campers competing in high school tryouts.
