SAN ANTONIO (March 15, 2016) -- The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) baseball team swept Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) opponent Huston-Tillotson University in a four-game series. The Saints won 2-1 and 8-4 in the first doubleheader on Sunday. They came back Monday to win 5-0 and 7-2.
The Saints are now 13-13 overall and 5-3 in the RRAC, while the Rams are 7-8 overall and 3-5 in conference.
GAME ONE:
Bottom of the First Inning: Anthony DeJesus (SR/Sugarland, Texas) homered to left to give the Saints the 1-0 lead.
Bottom of the Third Inning: Tyler Davis (SR/Weatherford, Texas) doubled to left, and DeJesus followed with another double to send Davis home and give the Saints the 2-0 lead.
Top of the Sixth Inning: Michael Blair hit a homer to move the game to 2-1.
No other runs were scored and the Saints won 2-1.
Pitching: JB Martinez (FR/San Antonio, Texas) started on the mound for the Saints and earned the win. He pitched five innings and allowed six hits while striking out 11. Jesus Ramirez (FR/Quitman, Texas) earned the save for the Saints.
HTU: Rolando Zepeda suffered the loss after he pitched six innings allowing four hits and two runs, while striking out seven and walking three.
Leading Hitters: OLLU – Anthony DeJesus went 2-2 and had two RBIs and a home run. Tyler Davis went 1-3 and had one run.
HTU – Michael Blair went 1-1 and had one RBI.
GAME TWO:
Top of the Third Inning: HTU took a 2-0 lead. Michael Blair doubled to right and sent De'Onde Simmonds and Clay Gentle home.
Top of the Fourth Inning: Simmonds hit a double to send Robert Guynes home. The Rams took the 3-0 lead.
Bottom of the Fourth Inning: With the bases loaded Kevin Jamerson (JR/Oxnard, Calif.) walked to send Garrett Harrison (FR/Victoria, Texas) home. Ryan Ramsey (FR/Grapevine, Texas) hit a sacrifice fly to right, and Connor Kalisky (JR/San Antonio, Texas) and David Perez III (JR/El Paso, Texas) both came home. The Saints tied the game at 3-3 lead.
Bottom of the Fifth Inning: Harrison doubled to left field. Kalisky followed with another double to send Harrison home. The Saints took the 4-3 lead.
Bottom of the Sixth Inning: DeJesus hit a two-run home run with Josh Razo (SR/Pearland, Texas) scoring to give the Saints the 6-3 lead.
Bottom of the Seventh Inning: Perez singled to right, and Kalisky came home. Ramsey hit a triple to score Perez and the Saints now led 8-3.
Top of the Ninth Inning: Simmonds scored on a Saints' error, and the game ended with the Saints winning 8-4.
Pitching: Caden Jacinto (JR/Italy, Texas) earned the win for the Saints. He pitched five innings and allowed five hits while striking out five. Jesus Ramirez got the save.
HTU: Sean Varner suffered the loss. He pitched 4.2 innings and allowed eight hits and five runs, while striking out two.
Leading Hitters: OLLU – Connor Kalisky went 3-4 and had one RBI. David Perez went 2-5 and had one RBI. Garrett Harrison went 2-4. Anthony DeJesus went 1-3 and had two RBIs.
HTU – De'Onde Simmonds went 2-5 and had one RBI. Michael Blair went 1-5 and had two RBIs.
GAME THREE:
Bottom of the First Inning: Anthony DeJesus hit a triple to left field, and a groundout by Chance Evans (SO/Cleveland, Texas) sent DeJesus home. The Saints took a 1-0 lead.
Bottom of the Third Inning: DeJesus hit a two-run home that also scored Tyler Davis. The Saints took the 3-0 lead.
Bottom of the Fourth Inning: A hit by Davis sent David Perez III home to move the Saints to 4-0.
Bottom of the Fifth Inning: A flyout by Perez scored Kevin Jamerson, and the Saints closed out the game with the 5-0 win.
Pitching: OLLU's Jordan Hackett (SO/San Antonio, Texas) pitched all seven innings and allowed five hits, while striking out eight.
HTU's Todd DeLeon suffered the loss after he pitched the entire game. He allowed seven hits and five runs, while striking out one and walking five.
Leading Hitters: OLLU – Tyler Davis went 2-4 and had one RBI; Anthony DeJesus went 2-3 and had two RBIs.
HTU – Justin Haywood went 2-3.
GAME FOUR:
Top of the First Inning: Clay Gentle doubled to right, and a single from Andres Garza sent Gentle home to give HTU the 1-0 lead.
Bottom of the Second Inning: A single from Austin Gallego (SR/Bryan, Texas) senT Kevin Jamerson home to tie the game at 1-1.
Bottom of the Fourth Inning: Anthony DeJesus hit through the hole at short and Ryan Ramsey came home to give the Saints the 2-1 lead.
Bottom of the Eighth Inning: The Saints scored five runs in the inning. Connor Kalisky started the rally with a double. A hit from Tyler Davis sent both Kalisky and Jamerson home. With the bases loaded. Chance Evans walked and Ramsey came home to score. Harrison hit a single, and both Davis and DeJesus came home to score. The Saints took the 7-1 lead.
Top of the Ninth Inning: A hit from Paul Garcia sent Marcus Ingram home, and the game ended with the Saints winning 7-2.
Pitching: John Garcia (SO/Victoria, Texas) earned the win for the Saints. He pitched 7.1 innings and allowed five hits and one run while striking out nine. Jesus Ramirez got the save.
HTU – Charleston Samuel suffered the loss. He pitched all eight innings and allowed nine hits, while walking nine and striking out five.
Leading Hitters: OLLU - Garrett Harrison went 3-4 and had two RBIs. Tyler Davis went 1-4 and had two RBIs.
HTU – Andres Garza went 2-4 and had one RBI. Paul Garcia went 2-4 and had one RBI.
