HOBBS, N.M. (Oct. 12, 2017) – The Our Lady of the Lake University's (OLLU) men's soccer team has won its fifth straight Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) game after shutting out the University of the Southwest (USW) 2-0. The Saints improve to 6-5 overall and 5-1 in conference, while the Mustangs drop to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in conference.
The teams have played each other 13 times since 2007 and the Saints have won 10 of those games. Last season, the Saints won 1-0 and in 2015 in the conference tournament, the Saints won the shootout 4-3.
Head Coach Shane Hurley said, "It was not one of our best performances, but we had a pretty good attitude and commitment to dealing with challenges that developed. The team was disciplined and worked hard to grind out the win. We need to play consistently with more vision and recognition going into the next two weeks."

THE BASICS
Both teams had five shots in the first half and went into the break scoreless. The Saints came back into the second half to score two goals to win the game. Adrian Delgado recorded his ninth goal of the season on a penalty kick outside of the box. The ball went into the net off the right post. Roger Rizzi scored six minutes later off a chip in past the keeper.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The Saints racked up a total of eight shots in the match, and six of those were on frame. Adrian Delgado led the Saints with two shots, one on goal. Oscar Cordova (SO/Brownsville, Texas) also shot two, two on goal. The Mustangs totaled seven, and five of those were on goal. Aram Sanchez took two shots for the Mustangs.
Jorge Cavazos (JR/McAllen, Texas) played the entire game and recorded five saves. His counterpart Dominic Kutzke also played the entire game and recorded four saves.
There was a total of 14 fouls, nine by OLLU and five by USW.
Adam Bieker (JR/McAllen, Texas) was shown a yellow card in the 17th minute. Dan Moreno received a yellow in the 52nd minute.
