SAN ANTONIO (March 6, 2018) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) Saints baseball team dropped a nine-inning nonconference game to NCAA D3 Trinity University 4-2.
OLLU is now 8-14, while Trinity improves to 9-1.
The Saints have played the Tigers six times since 2015 and Trinity leads the series 4-2.
Caleb Mireles (SR/Del Rio, Texas) started on the mound for the Saints. He was the first of seven pitchers to see action this evening. In the two innings he pitched, he allowed two hits and two runs, and he suffered the loss.
The Tigers added the first run on the board in the first inning. Andrew Ogletree (FR/Mission, Texas) bobbled Logan Morrison's hit to start the inning. Rafe Chaumette reached first after OLLU catcher Mike Light (SR/San Antonio, Texas) was called for obstruction. A hit from John Tucker sent Chaumette home, and Trinity took the 1-0 lead.
Jake Martin doubled in the second inning, and Morrison came home to give the Tigers the 2-0 lead.
Alex Garza (FR/Cypress, Texas) came in to pitch for the Saints in the third inning. He pitched one inning and allowed one hit.
The Saints added their first run in the bottom of the third inning. Cameron Guzman (SO/San Antonio, Texas), pinch-hitting for Ogletree, walked, and he later scored on a passed ball by Trinity catcher Michael Goodrich.
Adrian Gonzalez Jr. (FR/Weslaco, Texas) relieved Garza on the mound for the Saints in the fourth inning. He pitched one inning and allowed one hit, while striking out two.
Jesus Ramirez (JR/Quitman, Texas) came in to pitch in the fifth inning. During the inning, John Tucker tripled to left field, and Michael Davis came in to score for Trinity. Blake Frampton also tripled, and Tucker scored to give Trinity the 4-1 lead. Ramirez allowed three hits and two runs, while striking out one.
Joey Baker (SO/Cuero, Texas) started on the mound in the sixth inning. Tony Esparza (SO/Spring, Texas) relieved him in the seventh inning. Triston Scherer (FR/Crosby, Texas) pitched the final two innings.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Brown grounded out to first, and Jorge Collazo Jr. (FR/San Antonio, Texas) scored. The game ended with Trinity winning 4-2.
Jacob Mitchel led the Saints with two hits in three at-bats. Collazo went 1-4, scoring one run, and Brown went 1-4, adding one RBI.

The Saints will travel to Marshall, Texas, for a three-game conference series against Wiley College on March 9-10.
