(May 31, 2018) – (2018 Daktronics-NAIA Baseball Scholar-Athletes – PDF) The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the baseball student-athletes who have been named 2018 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Earning this honor from Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) is Russell Brown (SR/San Antonio, Texas)
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
Brown, who earned a 3.65 GPA, joined the Saints team in the 2016-2017 academic year. In his first year, he earned Red River Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete recognition. He played his last season on the Saints team in 2018 and he received a bachelor's degree in kinesiology on May 11.
