SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 11, 2018) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss to the University of the Southwest (USW). The Saints drop to 6-3-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC), while the Mustangs improve to 4-5-1 overall and 3-1-1 in conference.

The Saints are 11-4 against USW. The last time the Saints lost to the Mustangs was in 2015, 0-1.

The basics
The teams were fairly evenly matched in the first half as their defenders kept the ball free from the net. Both teams had many opportunities to score, but fell short through the end of 45 minutes.
The Mustangs were finally able to add a goal in 53rd minute from Antonio Mendendez on an assist from Jack Laurie. At the 69th minute, after a foul from Giovanni Cardenas inside the box. Laurie was tasked with the penalty kick, which went into the net for a goal.
Another foul inside the box by the Saints, this time by keeper Jorge Cavazos, gave USW the opportunity to shoot a penalty kick. Laurie's second PK also went into the net and the Mustangs won 3-0.
Inside the box score
Leading the way for the Saints' offense was Guillermo Serrano, who took four shots, three on goal. Juan Martin Chica took two shots, two on goal.
USW's Laurie took six shots, four on goal to lead his team.
Overall, OLLU took 15 shots, 10 on goal, while USW took 18 shots, eight on goal.
Saints keeper Jorge Cavazos saved five, while USW's Juan Arias saved eight.
Jhonatan Urbina from USW was shown a yellow card at the 47th minute. Teammate Diego Vasquez also was shown a yellow card at the 54th minute. OLLU's Cavazos received a card in the 83rd minute.
