
SPECIAL FEATURE ON SENIORS (March 23, 2020) – Our Lady of the Lake University's (OLLU) Pablo Cavazos was fortunate enough to compete in three track and field events before the season ended.
He started the indoor track and field season at the UCO Invitational in Norman, Okla., on Jan. 18. He finished in 19th place in the 200m with a time of 24.15. Cavazos also participated in the 60m and placed 36th with a time of 7.60
Cavazos tallied a 7.45 time in the 50m at the second event of the indoor season at the FasTrak Collegiate Invitational at the University of Houston.
Cavazos participated in several competitions at the most recent event at the Trinity Invitational on March 6. He placed 26th in the 100m with a time of 11.77, 17th in the 200m at 23.16 and 14th in the javelin throw with a distance of 39.22.
He also competed in the 4x100m relay at the Trinity Invitational alongside Paul Williams, Chandler Sennette and Johnny Samudio. The Saints took home fourth place with a time of 43.26.
Cavazos earned a spot on the Red River Athletic Conference All-Conference team in 2018. He competed in the 100m, 200m, 4x100mR, 4x400mR and the long jump.
Cavazos summarized the season by saying, "Although our senior season was cut short, the time and experiences we've had with our teammates at OLLU will stay with us forever."
Cavazos' hobby is soccer and his athletic role model is professional tennis player Rafael Nadal.
