KANSAS CITY, MO. (June 9, 2021) - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2021 NAIA Men's Golf All-America teams, as selected by the NAIA Men's Golf Coaches' Association All-America Committee. A total of 45 student-athletes were honored, with 15 individuals being named to each of the three teams.
Selected from Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) to the second team is Kane Ybarra. Ybarra also made the second team in 2017. Other OLLU golfers receiving this honor throughout the years include Aaron Flores - 2010, second team; 2011, second team; 2012, honorable mention; 2013, first team; Nick Chacon - 2011, honorable mention.
This award for Ybarra culminates a season-long of outstanding accomplishments including:
- NAIA National Tournament Championship Individual Participant - 10th place finish
- NAIA PING All-Region
- Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I). All-Conference
- Red River Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete
- Men's Golf Top Saint
Ybarra played five seasons at OLLU - he was granted another year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This past season, he won three tournaments, including the San Antonio Invitational, the San Antonio Shootout and the Greater San Antonio Men's Championship. He placed second at the Schreiner Spring Shootout, third at the A.I.I. conference tournament and fourth at the Claude Jacobs Invitational. He received his bachelor's degree this past May.
