PFLUGERVILLE, TEXAS (Oct. 23, 2021) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's soccer team tied 2-2 in double overtime against Huston-Tillotson University (HTU) on Saturday. The Saints move to 7-4-3 overall and 6-1-3 in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC). The Rams are 7-4-3 overall and 4-3-3 in the RRAC.
The Saints are tied with the Rams in the all-time series at 8-8-1.
OLLU marked its fourth overtime match this season on Saturday. The Rams struck just two minutes into the match with a goal from Juan Belman. The rest of the first half was scoreless but the Saints took four shots and committed three fouls. Javier Pena (JR/San Antonio, Texas) tallied two shots, with one saved by HTU's goaltender on a header.
The Saints scored faster after halftime than the Rams did in the first half. Freshman Alexander Jaramillo (FR/Houston, Texas) tallied his first goal as a Saint in the 46th minute. The Rams pressured with multiple shots in the following 30 minutes and Belman capitalized once again. His goal put the Rams up 2-1 with under five minutes remaining in the match. Following a corner kick by Randy Dominguez (JR/Katy, Texas), Miguel Barrera (JR/San Antonio, Texas) evened the match for the Saints in the 88th minute.
The Saints outshot the Rams 4-2 in the overtime periods, but the match ended in a tie. There were eight yellow cards shown throughout the match, with three going to OLLU.
