SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 30, 2021) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's soccer team used explosive offense to beat Texas A&M University-San Antonio (TAMUSA) 7-0 on Saturday as part of Seniors' Day. The Saints improve to 11-5-1 overall and 8-2-1 in conference. The Jaguars fall to 2-8-2 overall and 2-6-2 in the RRAC.
Head Coach Arthur Salazar said, "Senior recognition day is always a special time and today we were able to honor our seniors in a way they deserved. Our play was good, and we were patient when we needed to be. We were finally able to capitalize on chances. Now we need to turn our focus into the postseason and hope that the mentality continues."
This is the first meeting between the two programs. TAMUSA joined the RRAC in 2020.
The Saints recognized Dawson Brinkley (SR/San Antonio, Texas), Liliana Briseno (SR/San Antonio, Texas), Kaelyn Carnahan (SR/Chandler, Ariz.), Olivia Eagleson (SR/El Paso, Texas), Sophia Mora (SR/San Antonio, Texas), Jaylin Seto (SR/Houston, Texas), Haley Smith (JR/Spring Branch, Texas), Erika Zapata (SR/Baytown, Texas) and Jessica Zapata (SR/Baytown, Texas) as part of Seniors' Day. OLLU scored three goals in the first 25 minutes. Irania Acosta (JR/El Paso, Texas) tallied the opening goal off the goalkeeper in the 11th minute. Seto scored on a breakaway goal 12 minutes later. Kyleigh Spree-Kolos (SO/Victoria, Texas) scored on a header with an assist from Eagleson just one minute later. Before halftime arrived, Jessica Zapata and Kaelyn Carnahan both added onto the Saints lead with assists from Brianna Yanez (JR/Portland, Texas).
The Saints took a 5-0 lead into the second half. Brinkley upped the Saints lead in the 83rd minute with her 39th career goal to become the all-time leading scorer in OLLU history. Carnahan would add her second goal of the match with two seconds remaining to cement the Saints 7-0 victory. Goalkeeper Samantha Valadez (FR/Kingwood, Texas) played the entire match for the Saints and had one save as part of her clean sheet.

Leading the way for the Saints' offense was Carnahan with five shots on goal. Olivia Olivarez Coil had the only shot on goal for the Jaguars.
Overall, the Saints tallied 36 shots, with 22 on goal. TAMUSA recorded one shot and it was on goal.
OLLU had 10 corner kicks and didn't allow any by TAMUSA.
The Saints host Texas A&M University-Texarkana in the opening round of the RRAC Tournament on Nov. 6 at 1 p.m.
