HELENA, MONT. (Nov. 17, 2021) - The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's basketball team lost to No. 6-ranked Carroll College (CC) 87-57 on Wednesday. The Saints drop to 1-5 overall and Carroll improves to 5-1.
Head Coach Jillian Flores commented, "It's hard to win a game when you turn the ball over 26 times. Our guards made a lot of uncharacteristic mental errors tonight. We competed for the first half and did a lot of good things defensively. This team is still learning the value of playing hard for 40 minutes. We are a work in progress and learning how to be tough. We get two opportunities to keep moving in the right direction with big games on Friday and Saturday."
The series history was tied 1-1 prior to the game.
The Saints struggled in the first half by turning the ball over 17 times but shot 50 percent from the field. Keviona Barber (SR/Chicago, Ill.) and Natalia Trevino (JR/Laredo, Texas) led the team with nine points each. Miranda Villegas (JR/Levelland, Texas) hit a deep three-pointer from the corner with 2:16 remaining to diminish Carroll's lead to nine. Carroll closed the half with a 13-point lead after shutting the Saints out in the final 1:39 of the second quarter.
