SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (Feb. 29, 2012) -The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) softball team lost the doubleheader against Trinity University on Wednesday evening by scores of 3-6 and 0-5.
The Saints drop to 5-7 overall, while NCAA Division III Trinity improves to 9-5.
The Saints got on the board first to begin the game when Brittany Stone hit a double to right center. She scored on a wild pitch. Ashley Perez hit to left field and drove in Kaitlyn Bourg and Amanda Hinojosa.
Trinity shot back to score a run in the bottom of the first, second and third innings to tie the score at 3-3. During the fourth inning, the Tigers put three more runs on the board to take the 6-3 lead, and the Saints failed to score any more runs.
Stone led the Saints by hitting two in three at bats and securing three putouts. Kimberlee Briseno followed with two hits on two at bats, two assists and one putout. Perez added two RBIs.
In the second game, the Saints were shut out 5-0. Briseno went 2-for-3, and Ashley Elizalde, Megan Perez and Julie Ramos had one hit each.
The Saints will play their next games at home on Saturday against Ashford Universit at 1 p.m and 3 p.m. On March 9, they continue their conference schedule in Austin against Huston-Tillotson University. The doubleheader starts at noon.
