
Arnie Martinez was born and raised in San Antonio. He graduated from Holy Cross High School and attended Schreiner University, where he individually qualified for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championship in 2007. Martinez also attended Our Lady of the Lake University, where he was part of their Inaugural golf team. He was a standout collegiate player for the Saints from 2008 to 2010.
Martinez joined the OLLU men's golf coaching staff during the 2013-2014 season as the assistant coach. In 2019, he took over as head coach for the Saints. While on staff, the Saints have won five Red River Athletic Conference/Association of Independent Institutions Championships and three National Championship berths. In 2020-2021, he also was named head coach for the women's golf team whose program was reinstated after several seasons.
Martinez oversees all facets of the program from recruiting to practices, tournament strategy, implementing and overseeing physical conditioning and course management.
Martinez is a certified associate in the PGA program, where he hopes to gain his Class A certification in teaching and management.
In 2013, he won the Greater San Antonio Men’s City Championship and was selected to play on the prestigious Rudy’s I35 Cup representing San Antonio. In 2017, he qualified into Sectionals for the U.S. Open. Martinez still plays professionally on and off tours and in PGA Qualifiers.

TONY TORRES retired from the US Army after 32 years of service in October 2017. He worked at the Republic Golf Club in San Antonio as a golf-teaching professional for three years.
He is very active in the veteran community teaching fellow veterans the game of golf through the PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) program. A program designed to find vets and introduce them to the game of golf. To get them out of the house, back in the community, back with their family and out on the course. Torres continues to share his passion for the game as an employee at the Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston Golf Club. He is in his second season with the Saints golf team and looking forward to getting the team to nationals.
