OLLU Wins Ninth RRAC All-Sports Award
WACO, TEXAS (May 24, 2023) – Another year of competition in the books and the results translated into another Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) All-Sports Award for Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU). The Saints are the 2022-2023 champions and have now tied Houston Baptist University for the most awards all-time with nine. They've been crowned following nine of the last 10 years.
The Saints missed out only one year in the past 10 - in the 2020-2021 "Covid Year," when the university opted out of postseason competition. Their first All-Sport Award came in 2013-2014.
The All-Sports Award is given annually to the RRAC athletic program that performs best across the conference's sports in a given academic year. Points are awarded to the top five teams in regular season conference standings using a 10-8-6-4-2 scoring system, while results in conference tournaments and championship events merit additional points on a 5-4-3-2-1 basis. In sports such as tennis, track and field, golf and cross country, postseason team finishes are awarded regular-season and postseason points. A sport must have at least four schools participating and compete in an RRAC tournament to qualify for inclusion in point calculations.

The Saints piled up additional conference titles in women's cross country, volleyball and men's track and field. They also finished as runners-up in women's track and field and men's golf.
"We are both honored and thrilled to have won this award once again. OLLU takes pride in our competitiveness and sportsmanship, which led to us winning the 2022-2023 All-Sports Award," says OLLU Athletic Director Shane Hurley. "Our coaches have dedicated numerous hours to recruiting the right students to fit the mold of the values that OLLU holds and compete at the highest level in the RRAC. We are grateful for the support and dedication shown to all of our teams from our entire athletic staff and the OLLU community. We look forward to seeing the continuing success that our student-athletes bring this upcoming school year."
Xavier came in a close second again this year with regular-season trophies in women's track and field and women's tennis along with the RRAC volleyball and men's basketball tournament wins. The Gold Rush also had second-place finishes in men's cross country and men's track and field.
Texas A&M-Texarkana, which led the all-sports points race before spring sports, placed third overall. The Eagles were the champs of men's cross country, women's soccer and women's basketball.
LSU-Shreveport placed fourth despite only competing in six conference sports. The Pilots won regular-season championships in men's soccer, men's basketball and baseball.
Louisiana Christian, Houston-Victoria and LSU-Alexandria were next in line in the point totals.
