JODY ARMIJO JR. is a San Antonio native, and is in his third season as an assistant coach for the Saints. He has played and coached men’s fast-pitch softball at the national and international levels for more than 20 years. Armijo has also coached multiple sports at the high-school level but says, “his passion has always been fast-pitch softball.”

A product of his surroundings, he had early exposure to the game from his father’s team, the San Antonio Compared. Traveling with his father’s team gave him the opportunity to see how intensely competitive the sport was, and he became a student of the game. The basis and philosophy of the game he attributes to his father and the many other characters who would ultimately shape his coaching style.

As a player, he felt privileged, honored and lucky to say he had a chance to play with and against some of the world’s best. He feels even luckier to say he was able to help develop players not just in the game of fast-pitch softball but as humans.
