Saints Improve to 3–1 with Two-Game Sweep of Tabor College
San Antonio, Texas- Our Lady of the Lake University baseball completed a strong two-game sweep of Tabor College, combining timely offense with steady pitching to secure wins in both contests.
In the opening game, OLLU set the tone early and never let up, earning an 8–1 victory. The Saints capitalized on consistent traffic on the bases, scoring eight runs on eight hits while drawing four walks. Benjamin Hovda led the offense with a three-hit performance and scored once, setting the table throughout the game. Drew Saucedo drove in a run and scored, while Jack Kalisky contributed an RBI on a sacrifice fly and crossed the plate as well. Carlos Gusman, Christian Martinez, and Juan Garcia each delivered run-scoring hits to build separation on the scoreboard.
On the mound, Omar Rodriguez delivered a composed start, allowing one run on seven hits over five innings while striking out four to earn the win. Christian Perez closed the door with two scoreless innings, striking out three and limiting Tabor to one hit the rest of the way. Tabor managed eight hits in the game, with Eric Calder driving in their lone run, but OLLU pitching and defensive execution kept any rally from developing.
The second game proved more competitive, but OLLU once again found a way to finish on top with a 3–2 win. Drew Saucedo continued his productive series, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Carlos Gusman added another key RBI, and patience at the plate helped the Saints generate seven walks, leading to critical scoring opportunities.
David Benton provided a solid start for OLLU, tossing four scoreless innings while working around three walks. Xavior Salazar followed with three innings in relief to earn the win, allowing two runs but limiting further damage and preserving the narrow lead. Defensively, OLLU turned a key double play to help maintain control late in the game.
Tabor collected seven hits in the finale and received an RBI from Ethan Crawford, but left multiple runners on base as OLLU pitching held firm in key moments. With balanced offense and resilient pitching performances across both games, Our Lady of the Lake secured a well-rounded sweep and demonstrated depth and discipline on both sides of the ball. The Saints will be back in action this weekend at home on Friday against Midland starting at 2:00 PM CDT.
