Saints Move On, Dominate LCU In Round One
Pineville, LA- Our Lady of the Lake competed in a three-game series against Louisiana Christian, demonstrating resilience and balance across the set by responding to an opening loss with two strong performances to secure the series.
The series began with a closely contested game in which Our Lady of the Lake recorded eight hits but was limited to one run. Benjamyn Hovda, Joshua Milton, and Aiden Gonzalez each produced extra-base hits, with Milton accounting for the team's lone RBI. Despite consistent contact at the plate, the Saints were unable to convert key opportunities, leaving runners on base and hitting into double plays at critical moments. On the mound, Donovan Gamez delivered a complete-game effort, allowing just four hits and three runs over eight innings while striking out six. A two-run home run proved decisive, as Louisiana Christian claimed a 3–1 victory.
Our Lady of the Lake responded decisively in the second game, producing one of its most complete offensive performances of the series. The Saints scored 15 runs on 17 hits, with Joshua Milton leading the way with three hits and three RBIs. Jacob Cueva matched that production with three hits and three RBIs, while Aiden Gonzalez and Brett Atkinson each contributed multiple runs batted in. The lineup showed depth throughout, consistently generating baserunners and capitalizing on scoring opportunities. Drew Saucedo set the tone at the top of the order, and the team maintained pressure across all innings. Noah Ferraro earned the win on the mound, pitching seven innings and allowing five runs while keeping the game under control. The offensive output secured a 15–6 win to even the series.
In the final game, Our Lady of the Lake combined timely hitting with a dominant pitching performance to secure the series victory. Jacob Cueva delivered a standout effort with two home runs and three RBIs, while Diego Zuniga added a home run and drove in a run. The Saints totaled 10 hits and worked five walks, maintaining steady offensive production. Omar Rodriguez led the pitching effort with a complete-game shutout, allowing five hits and striking out seven while limiting Louisiana Christian's scoring opportunities throughout. His performance anchored a 6–0 victory that sealed the series.
Over the course of the three games, Our Lady of the Lake displayed the ability to adjust and respond, pairing strong pitching with consistent offensive production in the final two contests to earn the series win. The Saints will be back in action in round two of the Red River Athletic Conference Championships against Texas A&M-Victoria at Pilots Baseball Field in Shreveport.
