Bio
A native of Houston, Roland Latson was intrigued with the art of dance at a very young age. By the time he started dancing at the secondary level, he knew this was a journey meant by God. Latson began his dancing at Robert E. Lee High School and then at Westside High School. He was a member of the Houston Community College repertoire dance program for two years and transferred to Blinn College and danced for the nationally ranked Treasures Dance Team, were he served as lieutenant. Latson was a member of the Acrodanse Dance Company in New Jersey. Latson holds a Master’s degree in dance education from the University of Northern Colorado and Bachelor’s degree in dance from Rutgers University. A few of Latson’s performance credits include: an extra and leading male dancer in “Will A Real Man Please Stand Up”, starring Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child, Super Bowl XXXVIII, and Showtime at The Apollo-On Tour. Latson is currently in his 10th year as a dance educator. Latson has served on staff with Universal Dance Association and ShowTime International and has choreographed for many dance teams both at the secondary and collegiate level and served on the 2022 TDEA Convention educator panel. As a choreographer for OLLU Dance Team, Latson will create this years competition Team Routine that will be competed at the NAIA Battle in the Big Easy, the American Dance And Drill Team College Championships, Dance Team Union Invitational and at NDA Nationals.
