Our Lady of the Lake University Welcomes New Assistant Women's Flag Football Coach

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — As Our Lady of the Lake University prepares to launch its inaugural women's flag football program, the Saints are excited to welcome a passionate and accomplished leader to the coaching staff as Assistant Women's Flag Football Coach.

A proud San Antonio native, the new assistant coach brings a wealth of experience in athlete development, leadership, and community engagement. Having been born and raised in San Antonio, with time spent living in Austin, Texas, and Guadalajara, Mexico, she has built strong connections across diverse communities while developing a deep appreciation for teamwork, culture, and personal growth.

She earned her Associate Degree from Palo Alto College and completed a Bachelor's Degree in Multidisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2025. Continuing her commitment to education and leadership, she is currently pursuing her Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Our Lady of the Lake University.

Her coaching journey began nearly eight years ago on the sidelines of her children's soccer teams. What started as a way to support her family quickly evolved into a lifelong passion for coaching and mentoring young athletes. Over the years, she expanded her experience into basketball and competitive club flag football, helping athletes develop both on and off the field.

Her background in weight training and performance coaching has shaped a disciplined, fundamentals-focused approach to athlete development. She has served in both Head Coach and Assistant Coach roles, most recently with Texas Fury High School and a 14U all-girls flag football team. Beyond team coaching, she has held leadership positions as a Club Coordinator and Director of Youth Advancement, where she helped create pathways for long-term athlete success and personal growth.

Among her coaching credentials, she is a Certified Soldier Coach through Soldiers to Sidelines and a Certified Advanced Flag Football Coach through USA Football. These certifications reflect her dedication to providing athletes with high-quality instruction, leadership development, and opportunities to reach their full potential.

One of her most significant accomplishments has been founding the first all-female travel flag football team in San Antonio, helping expand opportunities for girls in one of the nation's fastest-growing sports. Now, she adds another historic milestone to her coaching career by joining the coaching staff of San Antonio's first collegiate women's flag football team at Our Lady of the Lake University.

"I am incredibly honored to be part of the inaugural women's flag football program at OLLU," she said. "This opportunity represents much more than a new sport—it is a chance to empower young women, create leaders, and build a culture founded on confidence, discipline, and excellence."

Her coaching philosophy centers on mastering fundamentals, building trust, and embracing continuous improvement. She believes in preparing athletes through purposeful training and fostering an environment where every player can thrive. Her guiding principle is simple: "Train like we play and play like we know."

Beyond athletics, she and her husband are raising five children ranging in age from 1 to 17. As a family, they enjoy traveling, exploring history, staying physically active, and working on automotive and home improvement projects together.

As the Saints prepare for their first season of women's flag football, the addition of a coach with a proven record of leadership, athlete development, and advocacy for girls' sports marks an exciting step forward for the program. Her passion for mentoring young women and creating opportunities for future generations will play an important role in shaping the foundation and future success of OLLU Women's Flag Football.

The future is bright for Saints Women's Flag Football, and the program is proud to welcome a coach whose vision, experience, and dedication align perfectly with the university's mission of developing champions both on the field and in the classroom.
