Our Lady of the Lake Drops Road Contest to Xavier

New Orleans, LA- Our Lady of the Lake men's basketball put together a determined and competitive performance but ultimately fell to Xavier (LA), 90–78, in a hard-fought contest that showcased OLLU's resilience and depth.

The Saints opened the game with strong offensive balance, moving the ball well and creating quality looks. Jaydin Morin-Bishop led the way with 16 points, attacking the basket and knocking down timely perimeter shots while also contributing defensively with three steals. Kenyon Elliott provided a steady presence, scoring 11 points on efficient shooting and battling on the boards, while Barack Holland matched that total off the bench to give OLLU valuable production from its reserves.

OLLU's bench played a significant role in keeping the game within reach. Matthew Gonzalez delivered a spark with nine points on a perfect shooting night from beyond the arc, and Santiago Ochoa contributed eight points, four assists, and two steals, helping maintain offensive rhythm and defensive pressure. The Saints shot 45 percent from the field and stayed aggressive throughout, recording 39 total rebounds and showing a willingness to challenge Xavier in the paint.

Defensively, Our Lady of the Lake forced 14 turnovers and generated seven steals, creating opportunities to push the pace and close gaps when momentum began to shift. Wahkil Lopez and Devontae Da Costa were active on the glass and defensively, combining effort plays with timely stops that kept the Saints competitive deep into the second half.

Xavier ultimately capitalized at the free-throw line and on second-chance opportunities, which proved decisive down the stretch. Despite the final score, OLLU demonstrated poise, effort, and balanced scoring, qualities that continue to reflect the team's growth and potential as the season progresses. The Saints will be back in action on Saturday against NAU at 5:00 PM CDT.
