OLLU Battles Through Physical Matchup in Loss
Houston, Texas- Our Lady of the Lake men's basketball battled with determination but ultimately fell to North American, 73–54, in a game that reflected both the Saints' resilience and the challenge posed by an efficient opponent.
OLLU competed from the opening tip, showing physicality on the glass and commitment on the defensive end. Arthur Celestin Jr. anchored the Saints with a strong all-around performance, posting a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds while adding a block in the paint. Kenyon Elliott provided steady scoring and composure, finishing with 12 points and converting 6-of-7 from the free-throw line. Jaydin Morin-Bishop added nine points and five rebounds, contributing on both ends of the floor.
The Saints effort was especially evident in their rebounding, where they secured 36 total boards, including 12 on the offensive end. Devontae Da Costa worked hard inside, collecting six rebounds and drawing fouls that helped keep OLLU competitive early. Off the bench, Wahkil Lopez brought energy with five points, three rebounds, and two blocks in limited minutes, while Santiago Ochoa knocked down a timely three.
North American, however, controlled the tempo as the game progressed. Their ball movement led to 21 assists, and their defensive activity disrupted OLLU's rhythm, resulting in 17 Saints turnovers. North American's interior defense also proved decisive, recording 10 blocks and limiting second-chance opportunities despite OLLU's hustle.
While the final score did not favor the Saints, the performance reflected a team that continued to compete, share the ball, and fight on the glass throughout the contest. OLLU will look to build on the positives as they will take on Wayland Baptist at home on December 30th at 3:00 PM CDT.
