Saints Put Together Strong Effort Versus No. 15 LSU Shreveport
Shreveport, LA- Our Lady of the Lake men's basketball put together a strong offensive effort but ultimately fell to LSU Shreveport, 100–85, in a hard-fought contest that featured extended runs and physical play on both ends of the floor.
The Saints showed balance and depth throughout the night, shooting 41.5 percent from the field and knocking down 11 three-pointers while converting 20 of 24 attempts from the free-throw line. OLLU remained competitive for long stretches, responding to LSU Shreveport runs with timely shooting and consistent energy from both the starting unit and the bench.
Santiago Ochoa and Arthur Celestin Jr. led the Saints starting lineup, each scoring 14 points. Ochoa was efficient from the field, connecting on five of eight shots while adding three assists and two steals. Celestin Jr. was a steady presence inside, attacking the rim and going 6-for-7 at the free-throw line while pulling down five rebounds.
Barack Holland provided a significant spark off the bench, leading all Saints with 15 points on an efficient 4-for-6 shooting performance, including three three-pointers. Mike Aiken and Matthew Gonzalez also contributed key perimeter scoring, combining for six made threes as OLLU consistently found success stretching the floor.
Defensively, the Saints forced 10 turnovers and finished with six steals, creating transition opportunities and keeping pressure on LSU Shreveport throughout the game. OLLU also won the rebounding battle narrowly, collecting 39 total boards and showing resilience on the glass against a physical opponent.
LSU Shreveport capitalized on its shooting efficiency, finishing at 51.5 percent from the field, with Emareyon McDonald and Hayden Brittingham combining for 53 points. Despite the final score, the Saints continued to compete until the final buzzer against one of the nations top teams.
