Rebounding Margin Proves Costly in Loss to Generals

Alexandria, LA- The Our Lady of the Lake Saints men's basketball delivered a determined defensive performance but were unable to overcome rebounding disparities and late free-throw efficiency in a 64–55 loss to the LSU Alexandria Generals men's basketball team.

In a contest marked by physical play and half-court intensity, the Saints battled throughout, keeping the game within reach despite shooting 34.6 percent from the field. OLLU connected on seven three-pointers and limited LSU Alexandria to 35.6 percent shooting, reflecting a disciplined defensive approach that forced difficult looks and contested possessions.

Barack Holland paced the Saints with 14 points, six rebounds, and three assists in 36 minutes of steady leadership. His presence on both ends of the floor helped anchor OLLU during key stretches. Isaiah Moore added nine points, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc, while Jermey Irwin contributed seven points and a team-high seven rebounds in a physical effort inside.

The spark off the bench came from DJ Smith, who delivered an efficient and impactful 20-point performance in just 17 minutes. Shooting 6-of-8 from the field, 2-of-3 from three-point range, and 6-of-7 from the free-throw line, Smith provided the offensive lift that kept the Saints within striking distance. His scoring surge in the second half helped narrow the gap as OLLU sought to shift momentum.

Despite those efforts, LSU Alexandria controlled the glass, outrebounding the Saints 46–23, including 14 offensive boards that led to second-chance opportunities. OLLU recorded eight assists and forced 11 turnovers, but second-chance points and the rebounding margin ultimately proved decisive. The Saints competed defensively, holding the Generals to 25 percent from three-point range, yet were unable to generate enough sustained offensive rhythm to overcome the deficit.
