OLLU Golf's Diego Garcia Hernandez Earns Academic All-District Honors

SAN ANTONIO (May 25, 2023) – Golf's Diego Garcia Hernandez of Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) has been selected to the 2022-2023 Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Team. The program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

College Sports Communicators (formerly the College Sports Information Directors of American – CoSIDA), such as OLLU's 17-year member Patricia Constantin, submit nominees for consideration. The organization boasts more than 3,000 members, and all are eligible to vote for all sports teams each year.

As an Academic All-District® honoree, Garcia Hernandez will advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot.

Garcia Hernandez competed in all tournaments this year beginning with the John Bohmann Memorial, where he shot a two-round 147 for 10th place. He led the Saints at the Waco River Classic with a three-round 219 for 21st place. He shot a three-round 242 at the Victoria Classic to end the fall schedule. Garcia Hernandez began the spring season with a three-round 235 at the Claud Jacobs Invitational.  Next for Garcia Hernandez was the TMU Spring Invitational where he shot a two-round 159. At the DB Classic, Garcia Hernandez shot a three-round 225. He finished out the season at the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) CHampionships, where he shot a three-round 229 for ninth place.

Garcia Hernandez joined the Saints in the 2019-2020 season. He was part of the 2020 NAIA Scholar team and was named A.I.I. All-Conference and RRAC Scholar-Athlete. In 2021, his team was A.I.I. Tournament Runners-Up and NAIA Scholar Team. He was named to the All-Conference Team and earned RRAC Scholar-Athlete recognition. Last season, the team was the RRAC Tournament Runners-Up and earned NAIA Scholar Team recognition. He was named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete and RRAC Scholar-Athlete. He also earned All-Conference honors.

Garcia Hernandez received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance in 2021, and this past May, he earned his Master of Business Administration in Financial Analysis. He marked a 3.68 GPA.
