VICTORIA, TEXAS (Oct. 22, 2024) - The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's golf team finished in fourth place out of eight teams at the University of Houston-Victoria (UHV) Fall Classic. The two-round tournament ran from Oct. 21-22 at the Riverside Golf Club and has a par of 72.

Head Coach Arnie Martinez commented, "The men battled out there. We knew it would be a challenge before coming to this event to beat UHV at their home course. We didn't play our best golf this week but we know what we need to work on in order to improve. Congratulations to Oscar Gutierrez on his tied for eighth finish. He grinded out the second round. We know that everything is always a learning experience. We'll learn from this tournament and be better in the spring. The offseason will be vital in our success next semester. Go Saints."

UHV won the tournament with a total of 281/277=558. Blinn B team came in second at 286/283=569, followed by Blinn's A team at 283/290=573. The OLLU A team placed fourth at 291/291=582, followed by Ranger College at 297/289=586, Texas A&M University-San Antonio at 297/292=589, OLLU B team at 300/308=608 and Louisiana Christian University at 301/310=611. 

Leading the way for the Saints was Oscar Gutierrez tied for eighth place at 72/71=143. Oliver Gaisford took 11th place at 71/73=144, followed by Victor Peña in 15th place at 73/73=146 and Alex Marshall in 21st place at 75/74=149. Ozil Salinas finished in 23rd place at 71/79=150, followed by Jake Casias in 24th place at 74/77=151, Niall Langley-Brook in 26th place at 78/74=152 and John Martinez in 30th place at 75/78=153. Andreas Skaar also concluded the tournament tied for 30th place at 76/77=153. Juan Limon took 37th place at 78/78=156, followed by Josh Brook (83/78=161) and Fernando Limon (81/80=161) tied for 43rd place. Luke Thornton finished in the 47th spot at 77/86=163.
