OLLU men's soccer falls at home to LSU-Alexandria

SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 22, 2015) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's soccer team was unable to maintain a 1-0 lead over Louisiana State University-Alexandria (LSUA) and lost 2-1. The Saints gave up two goals in the second half to the Generals for their second Red River Athletic Conference loss.

Head Coach Shane Hurley said, "We need to have more heart. We didn't have any today."

Turning Point

The Saints took a 1-0 lead into halftime with a man advantage after LSUA's Neiko Taylor was sent off for a studs-up tackle on OLLU's Jonathan Garay (JR/Houston, Texas). Despite the disadvantage, the Generals managed to score two goals to walk away with the 2-1 victory.

Individual Leaders

Nickolas Tyrpak (JR/Dripping Springs, Texas) scored the only goal for the Saints.

Inside the Box Score

  • OLLU opened up the scoring in the 36th minute. Jorge Cantu (SR/Gustavo Diaz Ordaz, Mexico) laid a perfect cross for Tyrpak who headed it into the top corner.
  • Dril Mboungou equlized for the Generals in the 68th minute with a header after a corner kick.
  • Thomas Wakefield grabbed the game winner with an over the head volley after a cross from Mboungou.
