Saints Deliver Strong Showing at Wichita State Invitational

Wichita, Kansas- Our Lady of the Lake men's track and field turned in a strong showing at the Wichita State Coach Wilson Invitational, highlighted by multiple event victories and top finishes against a competitive field.

Isaiah Huerta led the way for the Saints with an impressive day on the track. He placed fourth in the 60 meters final with a time of 6.86 before closing the meet by winning the 200 meters in 22.13. Jalen Bell added another solid performance in the 200 meters, finishing fifth with a time of 22.59 to give OLLU two top-five finishes in the event.

In the middle-distance events, Joshua Veliz claimed first place in the 1,000 meters, crossing the line in 2:33.54. The mile also proved to be a strong event for the Saints, as Isai Moran earned the victory with a time of 4:19, while Jose Perez followed with a seventh-place finish at 4:33.

The meet concluded on a high note for OLLU as the men's 4x800 relay team captured first place with a winning time of 7:55.02 with the team of Moran, Perez, Gonzalez and Veliz.

On the women's side, Alex Wells led off the Saints with a 21st-place finish after crossing the line in 8.08 in the 60m dash, while Nataley Doka followed in 28th with a time of 8.23. Both athletes returned to compete in the 200 meters, where Wells recorded an 11th-place finish in 26.96 and Doka followed closely with a time of 27.25.

The Saints continued to show depth in the 200 meters, as Ariana Erickson finished in 27.52 and Morghan Neely clocked a 27.59, rounding out a strong group effort in the event.

Morghan Neely also delivered a standout performance in the 400-meter run, placing sixth overall with a time of 1:02, marking one of the top finishes of the meet for OLLU on the women's side.

The performances at the Wichita State Coach Wilson Invitational reflected a strong early-season effort for the Saints. The Saints will be back in action next weekend in Houston, Texas.
