Record-Setting Day for Saints at FasTrak Invite

Houston, Texas- The Our Lady of the Lake men's and women's track and field teams turned in a strong showing at the FasTrak College Invitational, highlighted by three school records and a national qualifying performance.

On the men's side, Willis Thibeaux delivered one of the top performances of the meet, setting a new school record in the long jump with a mark of 7.01 meters. The jump placed him 34th in the NAIA national rankings. Thibeaux also competed in the triple jump, where he placed 10th with a jump of 13.75 meters.

Joshua Veliz continued the record-breaking momentum for the Saints by setting a new school record in the 800 meters, finishing fourth with a time of 1:56.24. The performance moved him to 70th in the NAIA rankings. Joseph Gonzalez followed closely behind, placing fifth in 1:56.61 and now ranking 78th nationally. In the long jump, Damarian Alfred earned an eighth-place finish with a jump of 1.85 meters.

Distance runner Isai Moran posted a fourth-place finish in the 5,000 meters, clocking a time of 15:14 to move into 51st in the NAIA rankings. In the hurdles, Damain DeLeon placed second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.30 seconds. Isaiah Huerta had a productive meet in the sprints, finishing fourth in the 60-meter dash in 6.89 seconds and taking second in the 200 meters with a time of 21.87. Yvann Agah added a 10th-place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 22.30. The men's 4x400-meter relay team placed fourth with a time of 3:22, with Davis, Zuniga, Guerrero, Verastegui, and Bell making up the relay group, including one alternate.

The women's team also produced several standout performances. In the long jump, Lawren Tanner placed fourth with a mark of 5.64 meters, a performance that now ranks her 20th in the NAIA. Jadae Freeman finished 13th in the event with a jump of 5.09 meters.

In the mile, Liliana Hernandez set a new school record, finishing seventh with a time of 5:13. Her performance moved her to 50th in the NAIA rankings. She was followed by Curiel in 13th place with a time of 5:30, Daylah Vega in 17th at 5:49, Leilani Leza in 18th at 5:50, and Claudia Lopez in 24th with a time of 6:15.

Ariana Erickson continued the Saints success in the hurdles, placing fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.24 seconds and earning a 68th-place ranking nationally. Madison Perez rounded out the women's highlights with an eighth-place finish in the 800 meters, posting a time of 2:25.

Head Coach Aaron Stallworth commented,

"I am excited to see Lawren earn a chance to return to nationals. I am also impressed with Josh, Willis and Liliana breaking their records. We also had some performances that have came extremely close as well. This being a school record or national qualifier. With a couple weeks left in the season, I am excited for us to potentially add to our list of broke school records, as well as our national qualifying group."

The FasTrak College Invitational proved to be a productive meet for the Saints, as both teams showcased depth and improvement while securing three school records and a national qualifier. The Saints will be back in action at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational and Howie Ryan Invitational this weekend.
