NEW ORLEANS (April 13, 2023) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's track and field team moved to No. 12 in the NAIA Men's Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 3 according to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The Saints debuted two weeks ago in the top 25 for the first time in program history. Last week, they improved to No. 6. The team did not compete this past week.

The team is ranked No. 1 in the South Central Region of the NAIA Men's Outdoor Track & Field USTFCCCA Regional TFRI: Track & Field Rating Index

The team has had outstanding performances and achievements from several freshmen. Cerrone Thompson's time in the 400m is 14^th among all NCAA and NAIA student-athletes. His National "A" Standard Time also qualifies him for the 71^st Annual NAIA Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Championships scheduled for May 24-26 at Indiana Wesleyan University. In addition, he has qualified for the Pan American Games for the Dominican Republic.

Jalen Bell's time in the 100m is also an NAIA "A" Standard Time and qualifies him for the NAIA Nationals. Julian Verastegui's time in the 400m is also an NAIA "A" Standard time and qualifies him for the NAIA Nationals. Other NAIA "A" Standard Times and NAIA Nationals qualifiers are the 4x100m Relay team - Spencer Williams, Jesus Riefkohl Delgado, Rodney Webber and Jalen Bell); the 4x400m Relay team - Jalen Bell, Julian Verastegui, Richard Davis and, Cerrone Thompson.  Considered an NAIA A Standard and Qualifies them for the NAIA Nationals; Jalen Bell in 100m. De'Jon Lewis' mark in the long jump is a NAIA "B" Standard and qualifies him for the nationals meet.
