Saints Open Outdoor Season With Strong Showing At UTSA

San Antonio, Texas- The UTSA Invitational 2026, held March 20–21 at the University of Texas at San Antonio, provided a competitive setting for the men of Our Lady of the Lake University to measure progress across multiple event groups. Over two days, the Saints produced a series of disciplined performances that reflected both experience and developing depth.

In the 100 meters, freshman Deven Langston led the team with a time of 10.50, finishing ninth overall in a fast field. Seniors Jalen Bell (10.63) and Jesus Riefkohl-Delgado (10.76) followed, while Troy Stinson (10.89) and Spencer Williams (10.92) rounded out a consistent sprint group effort across multiple sections.

The 200 meters saw sophomore Yvann Agah post the team's top mark at 21.69. Stinson (21.85) and Williams (21.96) contributed additional sub-22-second performances, while freshmen Sebastian Guerrero (22.67), Jordan Pope (22.86), and Jeremy Rodriguez (23.19) gained competitive experience.

In the 400 meters, senior Julian Verastegui led the group with a 48.99 performance. Freshman Edgar Zuniga followed closely at 49.13, and Agah added a 49.72 effort. Richard Davis (50.65), Guerrero (51.11), and Rodriguez (52.96) provided further depth in the event.

The middle-distance group was led by Joshua Veliz, who placed fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.92. Senior Joseph Gonzalez (1:55.95) and Isai Moran (1:57.00) also delivered competitive performances. Additional contributions came from Andrew Ruiz (2:00.22), Jose Perez (2:01.20), Anthony Alaniz (2:02.47), and Joel Telles (2:03.69).

In the 1500 meters, senior Diego Moran recorded a 4:09.18, followed by Jose Saucedo at 4:12.25. Joel Telles (4:22.22) and Ryan Aldana (4:36.93) completed the team's entries.

Freshman Damian DeLeon highlighted the hurdles with a 14.37 performance in the 110-meter hurdles, meeting the NAIA B qualifying standard.

Relay events were a strength for the Saints. The 4x100 relay team of Sean Lin, Riefkohl-Delgado, Bell, and Langston placed second overall with a time of 41.26. In the 4x400 relay, Richard Davis, Edgar Zuniga, Sebastian Guerrero, and Julian Verastegui combined to run 3:17.91, finishing fourth.

In the field events, freshman Damarian Alfred placed fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.95 meters, while Beau Lewis cleared 1.80 meters. In the long jump, Willis Thibeaux recorded a mark of 6.88 meters, and Jordan Butler posted 6.03 meters. Butler also competed in the triple jump, finishing with a mark of 13.11 meters.
