WACO, TEXAS (Sept. 27, 2022) - Deandra Ibarra of Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) earned the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week award for Sept. 19-25, while OLLU's Jose Zarate picked up the RRAC Men's Runner of the Week award for the same dates. This is the fourth set of cross country awards for the 2022 season. 

Ibarra claimed her first college individual medalist award at the Concordia University Classic on Friday. The freshman from San Benito, Texas, bested the field of 90 runners with a time of 21:24.6 in the 5.5K distance. She led the Saints to the team title in the meet which included a number of NCAA competitors. 

Zarate also had a strong showing with a third place result in the men's 7.3K course at Concordia. The graduate student from Mentone Beach, Calif., registered a time of 23:31.9 in a field of 121 runners. The Saints men also took home the first-place team trophy.
