Moran Leads Saints At NAIA Cross Country Nationals
Tallahasse, Florida- The Our Lady of the Lake University men's cross-country team competed at the 2025 NAIA National Championships, finishing 34th out of 37 teams in a highly competitive field of 326 runners. While the Saints faced stiff competition, their athletes showed determination, grit, and valuable experience at the national level.
Leading the Saints was sophomore Isai Moran, who turned in a strong performance over the 8K course. Moran crossed the line in 25:47.7, securing 85th place overall and scoring 71 points for OLLU. Senior Joseph Gonzalez followed with a time of 27:01.2, placing 236th and contributing 185 points to the team total.
Senior Damon Gutierrez finished in 27:17.9, followed by Sebastian Moreno in 27:59.0, both providing key depth to the team's scoring. Freshman Joel Telles completed the scoring with a 28:30.6 finish, gaining valuable experience in his first national meet. Seniors Tony Favella and Jose Saucedo added additional depth, finishing in 29:06.0 and 30:15.4, respectively.
While the Saints 34th-place finish reflects the challenges of national competition, the team gained critical experience that will help shape the future of OLLU men's cross-country. With young runners like Moran and Telles showing promise, the Saints are positioned to continue building their program and improving their performance in the seasons to come.
