SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Our Lady of the Lake (OLLU) softball team began Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) action on Monday in dominant fashion against the University of the Southwest. The Saints swept the doubleheader, with two shutouts of the Mustangs, 11-0 and 13-0.
How It Happened
- The Saints busted game one open in the bottom of the second inning, scoring five runs, highlighted by a two-run homerun by Lilly Rocha, her fourth of the season.
- OLLU added four more runs in the third inning with RBI's from Caitlin Terrazas, Lexie Escamilla, and Caitlin Casas (2), giving the Saints a 9-0 lead.
- Yezenia Perez singled down the right field line in the fourth to score Danika Jimenez. Tania Rodriguez came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Escamilla to make it an 11-0 contest.
- Ava Hernandez no-hit the Mustangs in the victory while striking out four batters.
- Terrazas drove in six runs in the second game including a three-run homerun in the bottom of the second.
- Grace Ross hit her fifth homerun of the season in the second inning. The Saints would take a 6-0 lead after two innings.
- Kristee Salas drove in a run in the third inning to give OLLU a 7-0 lead.
- Terrazas drove in two of her six in the third with a single to centerfield to make it 9-0.
- After Ayanna Trejo scored on a passed ball, RBI's from Emilia Salinas, Brianna Ramirez, and Rodriguez made it 13-0 after four complete.
- Annika Litterio threw a gem in game two, going five innings and striking out 10.
Up Next
OLLU will head north tomorrow to take on Huston-Tillotson in an RRAC doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in Austin.
