AUSTIN, Texas – The Our Lady of the Lake (OLLU) softball team remains unbeaten in Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) action as the Saints swept the Rams of Huston-Tillotson this afternoon. OLLU scored 29 runs in two games to bring their RRAC total to 53 runs over their first four contests.

Game 1 Highlights

  • The Saints took advantage of a couple HT mishaps in the second inning of game one to score four runs in the frame. Yezenia Perez drove in Lilly Rocha in the inning but was out at third trying to stretch a double into a triple.
  • Ava Hernandez drove in a run with an RBI double in the third frame to extend the OLLU lead to 5-0.
  • Perez recorded another RBI double in the fourth and later scored on a Grace Ross homerun to make it 8-0.
  • Two OLLU errors allowed the Rams to plate two runs in the bottom of the fourth.
  • Perez struck again in the fifth with her first homerun of the season, a two-run shot to give OLLU a 10-2 advantage.
  • Another OLLU error in the fifth allowed two HT runs to cross, making it 10-4 after five innings.
  • The Saints used a six-run sixth inning to put the game out of reach. Perez and Caitlin Casas each drove in two runs in the frame while Ross had one RBI.
  • A solo homerun by the Rams in the sixth would make the final 16-5.
  • Perez finished 4-for-5 with six RBI and three runs scored.
  • Hernandez earned the win in the circle, tossing five innings and striking out 7.

Game 2 Highlights

  • Kristee Salas started the scoring for the Saints with a solo homerun to leadoff the second inning.
  • RBI singles by Rocha, Perez, and Ross resulted in a five-run OLLU lead.
  • Two errors and an RBI single from Rocha allowed the Saints to score two runs in the fourth to extend their lead to 7-0.
  • The Saints brought 11 batters to the plate in the fifth inning. Tania Rodriguez and Hernandez each drove in two runs in the inning. OLLU scored six runs in the frame to go up 13-0.
  • A solo homerun in the bottom of the fifth would be the only run of the game for HT.
  • Valeria Vielma earned the victory for the Saints, throwing four innings and striking out four Rams batters.

  • The Saints continue RRAC action on Saturday as they travel to Victoria, Texas to take on the University of Houston-Victoria. First pitch at the Victoria Youth Sports Complex is set for 1:00 p.m.
